Well I guess thats why they're taxing it, to get people to quit. I for one do not want my tax dollars paying for peoples smoking habits

Black and milds are now $8.70 here for a 5 pack...It was $5 2 months ago.

that's krazy for a 5 pack of black and milds $8.70, shyt i pay $3.30 and $1.00 for a single it was $.69 last month for a single

Hmm last time I checked somebody else was in office for the last 4 price increases..... So how can you blame a totally normal occurrence on him... It is easy to point the finger when you look to blame somebody. Also cigs are a luxury item. And although I think the tax amount is a little high, for an luxury item they are dirt cheap. You could be buying the canned tobacco and roll them yourself( a lot cheaper) are you just too lazy? Even with that out of the equation ... Let me see alcohol for a good 1/2 40bucks. Last you about 4 days if you drink every day. So 10 dollars a day. Weed.... well lets not even go there on cost. Car audio... oh wow for sure lets not go there on cost.... quit complaining or quit smoking

But he is responsible for this increase. This thread isn't about the other increases.

I am not too lazy to roll my own, I don't smoke.

It doesn't matter what car audio costs to me. I haven't bought anything car audio related in years and all I have is a cd player in my car. They aren't specially taxing car audio either and if they did, I would be against that too.

They aren't raising the tax to get people to quit. They are doing it to get more money. When people quit and they loes money, they will just tax something else so you can pay for my doctor bill. All of you who are saying this is good aren't seeing the big picture.

I think it's wrong to tax the shit out of people with no representation, and he's right that they aren't doing it to get people to quit. They may say that, but that isn't the reason. Smokers are demonized, and are being taken advantage of in all honesty. That being said, I think tax increases to give babies who don't have insurance isn't all that bad a reason to do so.

I come here cause I like the Lounge. It provides me with entertainment. Sometimes I'll check out the audio sections of the board just to see whats up.

I sure am glad I make good enough money to keep on smoking regardless of the increases. It sucks for poor people when cost makes the choice for them, but at least they will be healthier so they don't drain my tax dollars on gov provided healthcare. The increases are a win in my book.

It won't. Smoking, snickers, and soda are a necessity. Food can wait. I see it every day at the store I work at.
