anyone repaint their own car?

me and a couple of friends were interested in maybe chipping in a buying a nice spray gunning and painting our cars. anyone ever try doing it theirselves, or should we just leave it to the professionals?

get a sata

and all you need is the spray gun a good one about 300-500

and an air compressor

the most important thing is preping the car right.

if your the sloppy type of person dont even try it

make sure theirs no dust after primering the car wash it and make sure all the dust is gone.

did i say prep the car right? lol

get a double air drier setup also, and make sure the hose is clean.. no air tool oil in it.

and like said i like sata, look for a HVLP 2000 with maybe a 1.3-1.4 tip... u can spray base with it well and then clear also but its a slow process with the clear

also pick up a cheap deadicated primer gun, something @ sears would work.. shit something from harbor freight

the sata he was talking about google it on amazon is 389 plus a good ait system with the filter setup that was mentioned i say a tad under a grand or about a grand and like said also a harbor freight primer gun. alot of masking tape and paper lol

yes doable but if your not going to do it right dont do it at all. eazier then it sounds if you have any freinds that work at a body shop as if they they will give you lessons , when i worked for snap on tools on lunch break i would waste it learning from a guy twice a week on how to prep a car primer and paint its pretty eazy

sata is well worth it

i dunno if it makes a difference with a pro but when when a freind let me try it versus a cheap one i did a way better job paint with the sata WAY better

yea i use sata //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . I have a digital HVLP 3000, Digital RP 3000, Minijet 4 HVLP and a KLC primer gun...

i just didnt think the 2000s were that much lol
