Anyone know anything about compound bows...?

So anyone want to point me in the right direction?
not at yourself!

I've only ever played with one when I was a lot younger, It was fun shooting stuff but was too young to know any facts other then what I posted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i know they hurt like hell when you have the drawstrength at 80lbs and the strings snaps and hits you across the face. lol. Any bow will be good for a beginner man. I bought my first one on ebay for $80 and i was very pleased with it. It was a martin lynx. As long as you get one allready put together with a arrow rest, balancer, quiver and all that you will be pleased. And get a trigger that goes around your wrist.

Lol, i bet that shit hurt like a *****. Im not a trigger man, fingers FTW

You'll be much happier with a recurve to start out with. But if you really want a compound, walk into an Academy or REI, and actually pick one up and feel it. They're all balanced differently. Shorter bows will often give you a much faster short, whereas a longer bow will maintain a flat travel and decent speed for a longer period of time. When I was in archery I always did distance competitions, which essentially had targets angled upwards, with a much larger bullseye, but they're like 25/50/75/100yds away.

Edit:

Triggers are for *******.

triggers arent for ******* just begginers my first bow was a martin Jaguar i now have a mathews that cost me lots but i bow hunt alot and watch yourself when you start not to swipe your arm or face

You want to go to a respectable place that has a nice selection and knowledgeable staff. Bass Pro Shop, Academy, ask around for a good local shop.

For best results don't buy an out of the box bow. You will need to get fitted as far as the draw back length and arrow length. Some stores will have indoor practice ranges to further help you with adjustments, also they should be able to equip stabilizers, Limb Savers, whisker biscuits, silencers, etc.
