I just got back from my cruise and played a full out game of black jack, the real style, and had a blast. I played for 4 hours on 100 dollars, while everyone else was going on like 100 an hour. I felt pretty good, I lost, but I think I did good for a beginner. I only lost 50, and I would pay that again gladly to have the fun we did, at that table.

I want to try black jack again, but have my eyes set on craps and roullete. Is there anywhere that I can learn these games online, maybe talk to some people about them, get the jist of it all? I had no clue what doubling up, splitting, all that was. But I got a hold of it really quick and was up 50 or so at one point, but was having far too much fun. I got down to throwing my last chip on the table and hit a black jack, and my luck turned for the best. I got back my full 100 instantly with doubling up and splitting on a "losing hand" it was complete madness at our table with all the drunkeness haha.

Forget roullette for sure. You can learn to play craps and blackjack, but the house will always have an edge.In the long run you will lose.

Poker is the only game I will play -- and I play a good bit.
How does the house have the advantage in blackjack. I do not gamble for money, fyi.

I work at a casino...tip for people tho, casinos are designed to take your money..lol if ur up..dont give it all back....ud be amazed at the stories i hear!

Depends on how well you play -- if you play perfect then the advantage is only a few % points I believe (but still enough to take your money over time).

I really have not studied those other games -- it was always enough for me to know that the house does have an edge. I never really gambled until I started playing poker. It is the only game I know of that if you really study the game you may reasonably have a positive expectation.

The odds for the player really ****, although blackjack does carry one of the better player odds, thus giving the house the advantage.

i dont see how the house has an advantage in a card game that the dealer does not hold the cards. can u explain how they have the advantage on black jack? Im just wondering. If all it is, is a machine of 6 decks spitting out cards, I don't see how anyone has an advantage. You just have to know what the odds are on each card... and win to double up/split/stand/hit whatever

If I understand correctly if both the house and the player bust, the house wins and that is where the advantage comes from. In any case, while the odds are more favorable than some of the other games. playing perfect is a lot like work and you have to be very disciplined.

general rule of thumb that i hear is once they shuffle the deck or get a new dealer you get up and leave.

most of the time youll notice when you are winning dealers will switch. dont know whats behind the theory but thats what ive always been told.

and i dont care how many drinks they offer you while ur sitting there dont drink!!! the more you drink the more confident you get!!!! lol

Blackjack only gives the house something like 0.5% advantage against a knowledgable player. It's small, but it's still an advantage and enough to make money off of or the game wouldn't be featured in almost every casino on the planet.

If you are interested in such things, there are several economists who quit writing to play professional poker. I have a feeling some of my favorite economists will quit publishing for this reason.

It's all math, I just find the Math for blackjack slightly easier than the math for poker. However, I always play against "friends" or whatnot who don't think of the math behind the cards, only the pictures.

I do not gamble, because it's too fast, either win or lose. It's much too fast. Their is no pleasure from the result of you due dilligence.

slight edit --- I don't think that you can overlook the fact that even people who know how to play correctly often give in to human shortcomings -- fatigue, inpatience, superstition, hunches, drunkeness, wnating to get even, etc.,

I think they switch dealers to make sure the dealer isn't in on it...I'm sure there's some casino term for that situation...
