anyone here build there own xover?

hmm that doesnt look to difficult. the pieces looks pretty free floating, i imagined u would have to solder them to a pcb, but as long as they are sturdy i guess. did u buy that case? or just had it leftover from a set?

i would like to eventually build my own, but i dont want to make something ugly that im gonna have to shove behind a door panel hehe.

and like death by bass said, it is pretty straight forward as long as you have the layout for it already done.

the ones in my pictures are huge though.

about 7 x 9.5" each if i remember correctly.

why would you want your crossovers on display anyway?
I was going to silicon the components together, but they're pretty secure anyway.
i dont have too many options where to mount them. the best place would be the underside of the dash right now. not clearly visible, not really hidden.

well i guess im going to do some research, and get some blueprints drawn. maybe in a couple weeks i can attempt =D

those look good magick man. yes it is big, but it looks solid and clean.

are those 2 way?

I use to build my on...I still have a big box of coils...Back in the early days of car audio competing...Early 90's I had designed a really nice passive network...I had one MTX Terminator 100 watt high current amp powering a 9 speaker setup including subs and center in my Merkur XR4ti...It sounded nice..A .fairly advance install for back then...

I used various books on crossover designs and built mine....I used a 1/4 mdf board wrapped in leather grain vinyl.......to mount the coils...caps...and resistors....everything was placed all neat and organized...all connections were mounted underneath....I have pic somewhere...but don't have a scanner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
