Anyone here a welder?

rmk - i was just trying to see where every went after they graduated from their welding program. i took welding in highschool but the techer was a cod knocker and wouldnt help anyone so i didnt try...wasnt any point in it ya know? but i was seeing what all was out there. i talked to a guy at the car shops the other day and he said yeah welding wont get you rich but it will keep you with a job and he said something else that is vey very true, everyone is a welder, but not many know how to weld. but like i said i was just curious on what everyone else did.

my girlfriends dad owns his own business but most of his welding is underwater and mi not much into that, ill stay above water and try not to go over 10foot off of the ground is i can haha. but just tell me what you do ya know?

Sounds like a smart guy you talked to! He's right everybody is a self proclaimed welder. I've seen hundreds of "welders" try and fail the initial test before getting hired. Usually the same story "I welded in high school and my dad has a welder at home so I'm pretty good"

He's also right on the never getting rich part. But if you are willing to travel you can make a very good living. I spent 3 months this last winter in Wyoming on a big pipeline job working 12 hour days Mon. thru Sat. and 10 hours on Sunday which is 82 hour weeks at $75.00 hr. and $100.00 day per diem. If you do the math thats a little over 6 grand a week. That was also my own truck and weld machine and I also had to supply fuel and consumables. It was also colder the s#ht there was a week straight there that the daytime highs were around -10.

If you want to stay local, And I don't know where you live but I wouldn't expect more then 20-25 hr. If you like to travel there are tons of jobs out there. Ethanol plants are going up all over the country and the oil field industry is pretty big as well.

I build cage racks for my giants rabbits. They are 13 - 22lbs so standard cages wont hold them. especially when they have a litter of 12 or 13

And dude H & K ****ing rocks. Had to get stoned after the movie though, prolly would have been a better idea to do it before now that I think about it
