Anyone heard of an Epic Center?

My cousin had one in his car. I think they are used for low bass. Does anyone know of a site where I can find one I can't find one just typing it in on google. Has it played out or something and something else is the latest and greatest that does the job of this device better?

What an epicenter does is search the music for what it thinks is an upper harmonic of a lower fundamental frequency. If/When it finds an upper harmonic, it will recreate the "original" fundamental frequency. So, basically, it adds bass to the music that may or may not have originally been there.

Well, there is something out now called the MaxxBass 103. But, it kind of works the reverse of the Epicenter. Rather than searching for upper harmonics and recreating the fundamental frequency, the MaxxBass creates the upper harmonics of a lower fundamental frequency, basically tricking your mind into thinking you heard the "original" frequency. Though it can be used for subs, IMHO it would be more useful for interior speakers.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to imply they were not a great pieces. I would not do a system without one. I usually switch mine off when listening to bass heavy music.. doesn't seem to be needed,,,but will make it hit hard as hell

can an epicenter easily introduce clipping?? can it IMPROVE a system for sure? im not the type to over-do muddy bass, clipping n such, but i dont wanna get an epicenter to find out it didnt make any difference without making the sound go to shit.

As with any sound processing device if over applied it will make the system sound like poo. For the price they can be bought used it is worth it to give it a try. It is not like turning up the bass on a head unit or amp that gives the muddy sound.
