- That's a very subjective statement. Just because a guy plays for a death metal band doesn't mean he can't tear up some classic rock or even hip hop stuff. You have to remember that some musicians do what they've got to do in order to get a paycheck. Some of these guys may not even dig their own music. So its not that they aren't talented, just that if they are, they are wasting it.
Drummers like neil peart use every microsecond of track deliberately and artistically, genre aside, the musical genius is astounding.
Thats what I mean, I feel like deathmetal is a poor place to showcase percussion talent, thus many of these drummers aren't nearly as good as they are esteemed to be. I don't really think death metal is in the list of highest paying musical genres, So I have to wonder, Why do they stay in these bands? If they were better they could make much more money in other bands. I know i'm assuming alot, but its just food for thought.- That's a very subjective statement. Can't argue with that.- Neil Peart is widely regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time. It really isn't fair to compare little known musicians to someone who's been world renowned for decades.
that statement is fals... donald tardy(obituary) played with andrew w k...Thats what I mean, I feel like deathmetal is a poor place to showcase percussion talent, thus many of these drummers aren't nearly as good as they are esteemed to be. Death metal and black metal are WAY more popular in Europe, but there's a decent underground following in the US as well. These guys aren't multi-millionaires for the most part, but there's money to be made. Also, it isn't easy to become a working musician. Once a guy lands a paying gig in a touring band, it's difficult to just walk away without having a different band to step into.Thats what I mean, I feel like deathmetal is a poor place to showcase percussion talent, thus many of these drummers aren't nearly as good as they are esteemed to be.
