Anyone have experience with the Directed 689M?

If you want to install a R/S on a manual I would get the new 5701 or 5901. They are programmed to work with manuals.

As an installer though I still don't so it, too much liability...

I talked to a guy today at Auto Ameristar and he said with those two alarms you can write the bitwriter and use relays instead of the 689m.

Anyways..Theres a remote start on my Saturn and that is now manual. I never park the car in gear.

With the 689M if your car is not running when you get out of the car, it WILL NOT remote start. As far a liability goes, in the 689M instructions is a liability form you have the customer fill out which puts it on the customer.

I have personally installed a half dozen or so of these in the last few months and they work as advertised every time.

Have you done any installs in mustangs (preferably 99-04?) I want to install the alarm my self to save monies. Im going to go with the 5901.

Same. When are you doing yours? tell me how it goes.

Ive heard you can wire a neutral safety switch without getting the $70 add-on. Does anyone know about that?

You have to diode isoilate the door triggers and trunk wire at the BCM in that car; but it is a different diode isolate than normal.

Do you have access to directechs?

Nope. I'd like to though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I knew about the doors and trunks w/ the diode. Just not 100% sure on the wiring of them. Ive read the 5901 install manual a few times and it seems pretty easy now.

Since the 5901 can be used on a manual car without the 689m how does that all work? Can I just wire the neutral safety wire (I think thats the name) to the e-brake wire?
