Well here is an off topic lol...

I met a beautiful woman, who is in very good shape. I have kind of let myself go, when a disc in my spine went to hell. But I am trying to get back in shape so I can keep up with this woman in many different ways.. :)

Anyway, like most, my problem area is my stomach fat. Right now I think I am doing all the right things. I lift weights every other day, and ride a stationary bike for Cardio ( best for me as it keeps pressure off my back) on the off days.

Anyway, my question is the stomach... I hear people like Mark Martin does 1000 situps every day, but when I read weight lifting stuff it says do the abs like 2 times a week.

Now I am not looking to become a muscle bound guy, just want to be in shape and have stamina. Is it ok for me to do crunches and Pilaties everyday, or should I only do it 2-3 times a week if my intention is to loose my stomach fat? I have been, and everything feels fine, I just dont want to be doing negative progress if doing it everyday is bad for me.

Any thoughts?

every other day
muscle tears when you exercise, so you need to give it a day to heal and regrow
That might explain why it seems every other day, its harder to do Pilaties then the day before lol Like if its easy Mon, Tuesday is hard, and Wed its easy again.

That's why you don't work tha same muscle groups 2-3 days in a row.
Yeah I dont my other muscle groups.. I am on a one week schedule for the rest of my muscle groups. I guess since I have heard so many say "I do X number of crunches a day" I thought maybe the stomach muscles were different.

honeslty the best way to lose stomch fat is to get up and run outside, not on tread mill or a bike. I play college football, im only a freshman, so i have been working out quite a few years.

sprints tone abs

incline running tones thighs and abs also get those love handles

Then do a core routine at least 3 times a week consiting of maybe 4 exercises 4 sets 50 reps.

I agree with J31Rob upper body one day then lower the next. If you wanna tone up lifting weights is cool but not to much because you will start to see more mass and less cut, if you dont match your lift with the right amount of running.

you can do your abs everyday in moderation forsure, lots of people have and always will, i used todo mine everyday sometimes twice a day. never a problem. but with your abs you do not need to use much weight as abs will not increase much in size, to get good abs you have to lower your overall bodyfat level.

Well like I said I have a disc in my back that makes it feel like I have a 4oolbs person on my shoulders and all the weight is concentrated on one disc in my lower back. I go to the Doc Friday to have a MRI done.

So thats why I ride the bike, it helps me stay active, but keeps pressure off the spine. Walking is hard enough... Running outside would be impossible.

So would it be safe to say doing a 20 minutes basic Pilaties workout everyday is fine, and then do a more intense stomach workout a few times a week, if I think I need more?

Like I say, I am looking to loose the fat, more then gain muscle mass... Although looking a little meaty is never bad lol (I am one of those skinny small boned guys with a decent natural muscle mass.)

HIIT Cardio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
So I should concentrate more on the Bike riding then anything else? That is if thats all I can do due to my back to get my heart really pumping and the sweat pouring lol

get on that treadmill

if u arent comfortable with running then put the slope on the treadmill pretty high and walk fast. I burn more calories walking instead of running by jacking up the slope all the way and walking as fast as i possibly can.

also, lifting weights is good for fat loss because more muscle burns more calories, so every day that you are lifting, you are helping your body burn those extra few calories, on top of the fact that weightlifting is good exercise.

I would do HIIT cardio on the treadmill one day a week and ride the bike the other days you do cardio, until you are comfortable doing HIIT

also, taking a good multivitamin and flooding your body with BCAA's is very beneficial for your weight loss.

if you buy a BCAA powder, mix it according to the package and then continuously drink it throughout your workout.

Offhand, I believe the 3 BCAA's you want to get are L-Valine, L-Leucine, and L-Isoleucine
