Anyone have any experience building computers?

Jman... WHO CARES if its native quad core, or 2 dual cores... they are BOTH quad cores, unless 2+2 doesnt = 4 now... And what are the performance numbers like with AMD's native quads Vs intel's quads? For some reason, Im pretty sure Intel's quad cores are faster. Also, as for QC... Lets look at overclocking, which has to do with system stability. 2 computers build with exact same specs, and same mobo chipset... lets go with an AMD\ATI chipset to be fair... the latest Intel and AMD version. Which will overclock higher? Pretty sure its the Intel system, and thats because the Intels fabs have better manufacturing technoligies, and therefor have higher and better yields. And I think you're forgetting Intel's native quad core is on the way. But then again, I dont see them releasing anything new until AMD gets their heads out of their ***** and comes out with a decent core architecture, and is able to manufacture it without have shitty *** yields. Even comparing dual cores, Intel's yields are higher than AMD's. Intel releasing more and newer architectures will only cause more head aches with anti trust lawsuits. And what process is Intel manufacturing now? 45 nm? whats AMD at? still strugglin with 65 nm?

Yes, go slowly, double check your work. Be careful of static discharge (use a ground strap or wear shoes while doing it) but don't go to the point of thinking that if any static hits it, it is dead. Just be careful. Also, put the risers (for under the motherboard) on every hole that the motherboard can support. Multi-layer boards can be damaged by too much pressure in certain spots. Make sure it is being balanced like it should be but do not put them in places where the riser is just sitting on the board.

That case should work just fine. Looks to have plenty of room.
Hmmmm and what is a riser? Does it come with the motherboard or what?

tiger direct has 550 w corsair for $99http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3436149&Sku=C13-2501&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&CMP=OTC-GOOGLEBASE

and the 620w is $130 here http://www.provantage.com/corsair-memory-cmpsu-620hx~7CSMC02Y.htm

definitly 4 gigs tops for ram bro, I have 4 gigs and have to do some pretty extensive rendering / modeling work in Modo or solidworks to get these programs to use more than a gig and half of memory. I have never bben close to maxing out with 4 gigs an I use programs that eat this stuff.

Shit you guys type fast, yeah that 600w for 100 is gonna be great.
4gb (even with vista) is more than enough right now. There are a few exceptions, but I doubt you will be doing that. If you find it lagging slightly, buy more ram later.

I still say the Antec supply we looked at early.

Risers are little metal screws that allow another screw to attach to it. I can't honestly remember what they come with. I just pile them all in my computer repair box and pull them when I need them. My guess would be the case.

and do you think I should stick with that motherboard or look into a differn't one?

Nope, not now, AMD is being ***** by Intel. I'm an AMD maniac and unfortunately right now amd is getting butt ***** in CPU design.
X2. However, I am going to wait out the current funk, and stick with amd. I won't ever notice the performance difference with ehst I use the computer for. . .

The only board I have used on an Intel quad is the one I showed you, and that is not being used anymore.

So I am unsure, I leave that to the forum for the answer.

This has nothing to do w/ the tri-cores ... If you had any degree of reading comprehension, you would have noticed:

1) I already said Intel's quad cores are better than AMD's quad cores.

2) AMD's tri-cores are a bi-product of AMD using a native quad-core design.

3) Neither AMD or Intel make perfect CPUs 100% of the time, no matter how much better or worse Intel's fabrication process is than AMDs. Because Intel doesn't use a native quad-core design, they can't sell tri-core CPUs unless they specifically attempt to manufacture them, which wouldn't be very cost effective.

1. There is little to no market for tri-core. They were just released to try and make some fast cash.

2. Never said either had 100% yields.

3. I know the tri is a product of the flawed quad.

4. We have to wait till Intel releases its native quad which won't be until AMD catches up I believe, as antitrust lawsuits aren't Intel's friend.

I'm not saying one company is better than the other like forever in history, but I am saying: right now Intel has the upper hand in manufacturing process, resources, # of fabs, and a current lead. I forget the code name for the processor, but Intel has a native quad in the works with a built in memory controller, etc. So it isnt looking good for AMD. AMD needs to fix its process, get higher yields, and faster speeds out of Barcelona if they intend to put up a fight, or come out with a better architecture that they will have less manufacturing problems, and higher speeds and yields with.

Heh you could say that

It took me 3 days. I had it to put together in on the first day but vista would not install. I took it all apart put it back together. I was getting really pissed then decided to replace the hard drive. Sure enough it was a bad hard drive the first time. I ended up with a western digital 500 GB hard drive and I am glad I got the extra space
