anyone have a dune buggy/sandrail?

i went and looked at another one today, i didnt like it though. the chassis looked weird. it was nice, but just not the style i want. it was too high and short. i want a longer chassis with a lower overall height, similar to that blue one i posted.
yne721, are you talking about a ****** for ur vw, or u have/had a rail?

if rail, PM me, i have a few questions as far as building a rail goes. i might go that route. ill buy the chassis i want, then get a vw engine/****** thatll bolt up pretty easy, and go from there, little by little, becuase i really dont have 4-5 to drop at once on a rail thats already built.
talking about my beetle, but it's a 79, so all i'd have to do is swap my body for a cage, and maybe look into a better suspension and i'd have a rail...

go pick up a HOT VW magazine. all kinds of companies in there that you can buy parts from

or if you wanted, and this may sound weird, but i could hook you up with my mechanics phone number, and he'd be MORE than happy to answer any questions you have about anything buggy/rail/acvw related. he runs a small shop so he has time to just sit around and BS

Not really a sand rail but I always wanted a Honda Oddesy. My fathers friend had one and let me drive it when I was younger. Too bad I don't have a place to keep or ride one

I guess if you like mini-vans that much, you can get one at the Honda dealership near you...

actually the FI were ridiculously economical as long as they were running right. but once once thing goes wrong, it's just worth it to ditch it and switch to carb(s)
mine stayed FI for almost three years after I bought mine, and didn't have a single problem with it, and got amazing mileage even when driving "fast". But once it started to go, it started to go.

plus if his friend has a 79, chances are it's already been switched over to carbs, unless he's trying to keep it 100% original, in which case he wouldn't be letting it go for so cheap...
I used to see people with problems with the fi all the time. I worked at recycled bugs for a few years and probably sold atleast 1 or more mass air sensors per week. Of course i also had to deal with the pissed off people when they went bad again in a few months cause they bought used ones.

Here's mine, thing is so much fun in the snow. I don't think you could do much better for $2800 brand new. Got it from here. http://www.awesomebuggy.com/products/buggies/hurricane_series/hurricane_250/

Had a little to much to drink with a bunch of friends and decided to rip up the fields. Clipped a tree and snapped the upper control arm. Welded her up and shes perfect. The part is only around $80 anyways. Gotta love underpaid china men.
