Hi,

Well i got the subwoofer with the jl audio 500/1 sub amp setup, and while it sounds quite nice, at times it makes this wierd squeaking noise from the sub and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what they set their crossover settings to. Also, do u turn on the bass eq? I know for different cars its different settings, but id just like to get an idea.

Lastly, just how loud can a 12w6v2 get? Im asking because i dont want to risk destroying it when i play at high volumes (well i consider them high, and i doubt im anyway near close to maxing it out but the car/windows do shake like a biatch)

Thanks.

sup dude!

I had the same problem at the beigining but rapidly corrected the problem.

( I have rca inputs on my head unit that are high output) 6volts.

the infrasonic filter can be OFF or ON but make sure you have it set to 30 Hz. If you are planning on turning it ON.

The Q setting can start at 1.1 but should not go any higher then 2.0

the center frequency should start at around 40 Hz and the boost DB is set on mine to +3.

do you have a bass knob?

I have 2 12w6v2 in a sealed enclosure each being pushed by its own 500/1 amp.

Since my setup consist of a blow-through i have the amp LP filter slope set to 24db

because my woofers are directly in the playing area. (they dont have to fight as hard as woofers installed in a truck of a car.)

and last the filter frequency is set to 80 Hz.

On JL's website you can find pdf's that have different settings that you can copy and use on your setup.

I would get a digital voltemeter and set the gains with it. Since these are 12w6v2 the voltage should be at 31.6v.

good luck!

I bought the amp on ebay, but i bought the sub from an authorized jl dealer. The guy i bought the sub from said take it over there and theyll tune it out, but everytime i go there this guy keeps bugging my *** about "dont tell me you're gonna do the install urself" and all this other crap.

Thx Hcoronado //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, yes i do have a bass knob and my box is ported. What do you mean when u say your system has a blow through?

I drive a regular cab Nissan truck; because of limited space I did whats called a blow-through, which means that i have either cut the back of the wall to allow the speakers to go through the back, or others call it a cut-through, but to me a cut-through will be more like cutting 2 holes in the back wall and pass the round ports through there to allow the bass to rush in to the cabin.

Anyhow i have a couple of pictures in my gallery when i was measuring everything and test fitting everything.

I am re-doing everything to look a little more proffesional and will add more pictures later.

By the way, just follow the instructions on the manual to get your amp installed and you should be fine but just a few tips; plan ahead of time to get your installation done correctly, use the correct gauge wire, RCA's, good ground, good size fuse and lots of patience, dont rush your installation (thing go wrong when rushing). run your wire through the firewall and make sure everything is sealed.

and most important connect your fuse last! once you have tripple check all the wiring and connections.

good luck!
