Anyone had a Decent sized shop built.

heres the rundown i have the 1 acre of land that is about 5 miles from my house. I have 2 buddies that are wanting to build a shop on the land. Looking at something with 4 bay doors. 1 Bay with a lift. Thats the only thing that we are for sure about at this point. Anyone ever had a shop built. What did you have it built out of. Size? Cost if you dont mind of what you payed. We are goin to start looking for contractors at the beging of next month. Any advice would be great guys.

You might want to get plans laid out before you go talk to the contractor.

I have a 30x40x16 steel building, lots of opt. Paid $25,000 7 years ago, price has doubled here now..

My family just had a steel building built, it's not a shop, but the outside and general walls of a house, it was 80x30ft. and had 6 inside walls. Also had a 2 car garage put up, but that was mainly made out of wood supplies left over from the interior build. The total house cost was up the in $100,000 range, but that was with all the house built, inside and out, the garage, cement, and most furnishing and some extra 'toys'

also, if you will be running a business out of this shop, put in an office, and definitely a showroom. You will also want a breakroom/lounge of some sort. That would be nice idea to have even if you don't run a business. It would be nice to have a beer and hold a poker game on saturdays, or chill out when you're working.
