I've got an acura 3.5 rl....1999, and i cant seem to find a good ground for my cap in my trunk...at first i had my ground runnin from my trunk to under the back seats, but the 8 ga wire im usin to ground my cap was like 6 feet long. I decided it was wayy to long even tho i didnt notice any drop in preformance or my amp. But When i got my new box i decided to find a closer ground, and only was successful in finding a bolt that comes down from the top of the trunk.. im not sure what if it connected to the chassis or what, but it was workin for a while i thought, but on my ride home just now my amp was gettin weaker and weaker i could tell. I looked on the amp and it read that it was gettin 14.4 volts, but it sure dodnt sound like it was gettin 14.4 volts.......what do u think is wrong?? is anyone familiar wt my car and can you help me find a proper ground, if it sounds like the problem???

thanks

Just find a nice solid piece of metal on the floor of your trunk, scrape the paint down to bare metal, and use a bolt to make your own hole. ***Make sure to check underneath the car first though, so you don't drill into your gas tank.

Or selftaping screw.

if you don't want to make holes in your trunk, just find a good bolt under the carpet and scrape the paint away. just make sure it is a good bare metal contact and you shouldn't have a problem. and if you really want to check, a volt meter would be more accurate then reading from your amp.

ic...thanks...what i think im gonna do is use my left over "power" wire which is 4 ga and just fasten that to the seat bolt under my back seats where my amp ground is....let me know if that should solve the problem

You should ideally have ALL your grounds at one point, I' go to one of the rear seatbelt anchors under the back seat, just get a slightly longer grade 8 bolt, and do it there. If you graound everything at one spot it reduces the chances of ground loops tremendously.

find a bolt, un screw, crimp a spade terminal on your ground wire, use a dremel and sand away at teh paint till the nice shiny metal is showing, bolt the spade terminal, BAM pure ground of goodness.
