I produced half an album for one guy, then produced a track that was turned into a music video & didn't even know about either...haha!
1. My brother knows this guy who's putting out an album. Once my brother had the album, he recognized some of my beats on there....and thought I sold my stuff to him...which is not true. Half the tracks on there were mine, and half of the remaining were my other guy's beats (who also didn't know his beats were being used).
- It still has yet to be discovered how he got our beats...Since me & my guys do share each other's beats with each other, I'm guessing a CD got into the wrong hands, but we still don't know how or when...
2. My guy was watching channel 19 (a local cable tv channel) and a music video with a "familiar" beat came on with some people rapping to it. This familiar beat happened to be mine. The chance that #1 someone would listen to my garbage, #2 actually reloop it into a full song, #3 lay down vocals over it, #4 make a video off that track, #5 put it 'on the air' in our small little city of Chicago, and #6 the chance that me_or_somebody_I_know just happened to be watching that program on TV, in my opinion, are very slim.
- The beat that was used was one I had on soundclick.com. It's about 1 minute, but in that 1 minute there's enough of a full phrase to re-loop into a full 3-4 minute song.
I'm really not taking it serious 'cause I just do beats just to do 'em, I'm in no way tryin' to be the next Dre/Storch/Timbo/etc...I really don't even sell my stuff and when I do, it's only for like $30.
So, if I was enthusiastic about seeing what I could do about these situations, what would be my options? My guy is already talking about 'takin it to the streets', and you know what that means, but I don't even think it's all that important, hence my weak enthusiasm regarding the matters at hand.
