anyone ever meter a sealed box set up?

apperently sealed setups post just as high, or higher numbers then ported boxes so i have heard. i imagine they have lots of power then what they would use with a ported box. but what sounds loud to the eat, isnt loud to the meter

ported boxes normally are louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well ya, off of the same amount of power. i thought i remebered someone talking about people using sealed boxes in an spl application, can you fill me in on why that would be lol. cause i have always thought ported is louder, but why would anyone use sealed for spl??

i may just be talking out of my *** but who knows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Putting a sub in a small sealed enclosure will increase mechanical power handling and give you a peak in the upper frequencies. If you match the peak with the vehicle's cabin, you can have an SPL vehicle that could put up decent numbers. I have no idea how how you could go though but I'm sure there are people out there who have done it.

when u dont have enough room for a ported box you use sealed

sealed boxes inside a larger ported box ( 4th order bandpass ) takes advantage of the best properties of both sealed and ported... the seald box ups power handling and the ported part makes it louder

I had a 15" Tempest is a 4 cube sealed box in a 95 ext can S-10. It was pretty loud, plus I only had 100 watts going to it. I was told by an adire tech once apon a time, that the smaller a sealed box is the more power it needs, and a large sealed box requires less power. Do not know if it is right, just what I was told.
