Anyone ever bridge a head unit?

I was reading something a bit ago where someone had bridged a head unit to power his gear. What would you be looking at power-wise with a 50x4 system if this is possible? Is this something that is just plain dumb to do?

if your manual states you can bridge then go ahead but most will not bridge. you might get 40 Watts RMS. if you Hu allows bridging....

As long as it has a common ground, it's bridgable. That's my understanding. Since the voltage shares a common ground, it won't really care what is causing resistance, as long as their is some. If you could find an 8 ohm woofer it'd be great, since a 4 would be like using two 2 ohm speakers. Some HUs can do that fine, some can't.

I have a PP DEH350 for sale($115shipped) that allows the rear channels to be bridged to a 2ohm load.
