Anyone Ever Blew a MTX 9500?

i was just wondering because i have mine hooked up to 1200 watts and its hooked to a junk deck (kenwood 302). i already blew my door speakers and my sub is still good.

no, i have never had oral *** with a subwoofer.

but i'm sure if u just watch the gains and if it doesn't sound like it's reaching its limits then u should be fine

Ive messed with a lot of the mtx 9500s and yes they will blow up quicker than you think to if you have enough power it will play clean until it dies, and then to top it off mtx says you can not blow it up.

i blew up one the prototype 9500 12's. There were 6 in existance with dual 1.8 ohm coils, I had 4 and willy collier had 2. We were running a strapped pair of modded MTX 1501's per sub. The dustcap actually completely cut through the surround!

Our shop has an MTX 9500 15" running on a Memphis Mojo 2kw w/ an extra batt.

Plays great, no troubles. Does ~145's @ 40hz on the TL in a 4 door Dodge Ram. Nice SQ, but lacks much of the attack of my DD9515d on an IA 20.1 though.

Over all....DD9515d >>> MTX 9500

yep them damn plastic cones that resemble brushed alumnium are easy as hell to crack/fold when you're doing burps. However the subs are real troopers when it comes to survival (I mean in general) ... ive seen em smoke then put up a decent number on the meter right afterward //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif ... weird shit but ive seen it a few times.

I have a feeling he was powering his door speakers with his HU and probably clipped them to death cuse they weren't loud enough. The 9500 just got lucky and had an amp.

Also have a feeling he had a shop wire his sub amp for him and they set the gains low knowing people are stupid and blow shit up.
