by this, i mean has anyone ever been declined financial aid and had to appeal it? if so, did u win the appeal? if so, how long did it take to receive the check? i won my appeal two weeks ago and i still didnt get a two thousand dollar checc in the mail! when i read the website it says financial aid checks will be sent out a month after the semester has started. i was approved about two days after a month into the semester. will they wait a month from this time or will they send it out ASAP? i cant wait to spend my free money on car audio1!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Just call the office, way to general of a question. Its going to depend on your schools policy.

I had to appeal financial aid suspension once, because i got a 4.0 the entire year.

lol you would think so.. but my transcripts from like 10 years ago.. at another school.. in another state.. when i paid 100% out of pocket and got NO aid... ****ed me.

They said you have to have a 75% successful cumulative completion ratio, including transcripts.. meaning have to had passed with a C 75% of all the classes you have attempted, or your aid is suspended. Well 10 years ago (when i was technically still in high school) I didn't give a shit before and dropped a ton of classes, each withdraw is figured into the cumulative percentage and so at the end of the year my aid was canceled.

They never bothered to tell me anything about it until i got the cancellation letter. They could have at least warned me when i turned in my transcripts, that i could never meet the requirement.

I'm still bitter.

thats the reason why you + i + thousands of others are denied financial aid and are forced to take out loans

nice job

so basically although u had a 4.0, your completion rate was less than 75% due to all those withdrawed classes of yours? i was decline finan aid because of having completion rate less than 67.7% and gpa less than 2.0.. but i met those requirements by passing two classes i needed

yeah, i seriously dont think i will ever meet that 75% completion rate, i will graduate before that happens. i did a weird program in HS where i went to a community college instead of a regular HS. The HS counselor would sign me up for a bunch of classes, and i would go into the college office and drop the ones i didn't like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

In my letter asking for an appeal to the cancellation i just *****ed. Complained about the bureaucratic system that would cancel the aid of someone who got a 4.0 for their first year back. I told them exactly what i thought of a system that was set up to make it impossible to succeed, and ended by asking them if they thought enforcing such a rule was for the benefit of the student and the educational institution.

i think what he is saying is that people such as yourself that abuse the system and dont spend the money on school and view it as "free money" are the reason why funds run out and good honest people that need the money dont get it

well i think anyone who doesnt take the opportunity to accept free money is an idiot. so in other words, i couldn't blame myself even if i was one of those good honest people.
