As it says in my phy sci book, the following are the recommended exposure levels for the listed DB levels:
115db: 1/4th of an hour or less
120db:1/8th of an hour
125:1/16 h
----
140db:1/128 h (.46 of a minute. or less than 30seconds)
You can see the pattern ^^^^. As you can see why in peoples' demo videos casual listeners jump out of the car or run away because the bass just cuts through their ear. And to think of people who chill in their car while beating or giving demos that press 140db or higher, a good way to say sayonara to your hearing.
Typical symptoms of a bothered ear are a feeling of pressure in the ear, speech sounds muffled, and/or a ringing sound(tinnitus). Symptoms may go away in minutes or hours. 90db or louder could cause damage after long times of exposure. 120db or louder may cause pain/i.e threshold of pain.
I think ive done damage to an certain extent. Depending on a persons tone of voice i may not hear them clearly. I have this problem sometimes with girls since their voice is often of a higher pitch. Theyll say something and itll sound like the teacher off charlie brown...wah wah wah. Its not very bad, but if im not like facing them a certain way that's when my problem comes up. I believe i did damage more to my right ear(since its the ear that blows out the most, according to my setup in my car, be the left ear of the passenger) .
As a recoop i train my hearing by listening to music via headphones then trying to stay in a conversation with someone. Helps me better focus on what the person is saying.
Thought id just discuss this since my ear is bothering me now and feels like my whole side of my head is numb.
