thank god i live in texas, no gun registration in the state of texas. once you fill out the 4473 at a ffl licensed dealer and comes back as a proceed when they call NICS, the gun is yours and no more paper work hassle, until you are involve in a shooting. lol

Because they are idiots. I'm 22 & own several firearms, all of which were bought new & registered. Glock 27, S&W 442, S&W BodyGuard .338, & a Mossberg 500. Having unregistered firearms makes them feel cool & badass, it also helps their ego.

Wrong. Only guns bought from a dealer are required to be registered. Obviously. Privately purchased guns do not need to be registered, and that is a state law i believe, this is how virginia is. So apparently for acting as smart as you try to do, you dont know as much as you want to. Im 18, and i will be Open Carrying a pistol as soon as i get some cash to buy my 1911. Which is also legal.

Did you know the supreme court decided that when the 2nd amendment was created, that the forefathers did not intend for regular citizens to have guns or something along those lines, which is a completely ridiculous conclusion. Congress just tried to recognize christmas and christianity. Im sure that they would never violate Church and State either huh.

hey guys me and my girl wana get in to shooting. we have a walmart that sells shotguns on the cheap a shooting range 10min away. should we go to the range and ask for help? do they offer guns for use do we need to take a class then get a gun . can we go to wally world get a gun or do we need to take a class then go to a real gun place and get a pistol?

A government banning firearms is unjust & serves no definitively good purpose, all it does is unarm law abiding citizens. Thugs & criminals will still be armed, thus making the country less safe for our society.

I'm new to this forum but I have been a member of THR for quite some time.
You do not need to register guns with the ATF unless the barrel of the rifle/shotgun is shorter than legal limit and if a firearm is fully automatic. I think some people on here are mistaken that filling out 4473 forms at a dealer registers it, but that is not the case. The only states you have to register handguns in are CA, NJ and NY I think.

I have purchased and sold a few firearms in face to face transactions. Nothing federally illegal about it, just depends on state laws.

Guns are awesome and I love shooting. I try to go every weekend if the weather isn't bad or I'm not busy.

Oh and filing off serial #'s is a federal offense. But I am sure you guys are joking. Anyways, gun laws are retarded.

This is true. This guy is refering to NFA or destructive firearms. Shotguns with a barrel under 18" or over-all length of 26", Rifles with a barrel shorter than 16" and any automatic firearm, also any silencer. All of these can be legally obtained by filling out the extra form, paying a $200 tax stamp and getting approved.

I agree with the whole "gun laws only affect law-abiding citizens" thing. Criminals will always have a way to get guns no matter what.

This is true. A gang was busted running drugs recently with AR-15's. When pictures were released the AR lowers which is the part with the seriel number were raw aluminum, meaning they purchased dummy or unfinished lower with no serials and then finished them themselves making them useable on a firearm.

You dont know as much about gun laws as you think you do.

I love texas in regards to the gun laws they currently have. But virginia isnt bad.

And I guess you consider it safe to have all guns registered to the original owner, not the current owner. There's no 'idiots' in that scenario, right?

Lastly, purchased new or not, gun registration is a state law (not fed) and varies from state to state. Maybe in worst's state (Pa iirc) new guns purchased through dealers are registered, but in many states there is NO gun registration law. So going back to your original assessment, there's a lot of 'idiots' out there with unregistered guns, simply because they are following the law.

Educate yourself. Dont go ignorant your entire life.

The less civil people become to one another, the more I want my right to own a firearm. And I know that if guns were outlawed, someone who is willing to use a gun to kill someone unjustifiably is also willing to commit the lesser offense (legally and morally) of owning the what would be an illegal gun.

Yes innocent people are killed by guns every day, but if we are going to ignore the comparison of bad versus good/necessary and simply say ban them because innocents die from them, we better outlaw automobiles next. And boats, planes, knives, prescription drugs, old people having sex, etc.

Didn't say to outlaw guns. I'm saying that there's way too many people out there who own guns even though they have no business possessing one. The world would be a lot better without them imo.
