A homeless man has been charged with indecent exposure after police said he defecated on church property.

According to arrest records, a Louisville Metro police officer saw William D. Wilkerson, 54, in front of Cathedral of the Assumption with his pants around his waist.

Police said he was bent over and defecating.

According to arrest records, the officer also saw Wilkerson's genitals.

Police said Wilkerson had bloodshot eyes, was unsteady on his feet and smelled strongly of beer.

Police said Wilkerson admitted he had been drinking. When asked how much, he said, "Enough, cracker," according to arrest records.

Wilkerson is charged with public intoxication and second-degree indecent exposure.

He also had three bench warrants.
