I do the best when I open notepad on the right monitor and keep track of the gold pieces in form of my/mined/theirs in the order of play. This way I know whats been played and possible combinations. Earlier in the game get rid of your 1,2,3 so later in the game you'll be able to win when it matters. The sooner they play their 6, the better off you are, because that means you only have to play your 5 to tie, then win it with the 6.

Hi-lo - Odds seem good on this game, but you can get screwed easy when an A comes after your J. Good luck.
