Anybody know a lot about tattoos... please reply

keep it clean with antibacterial soap, first day A & D after that unscented lotion, keep the exposure to water limited, keep exposure to sun to ZERO and keep the lotion flowing. Every tattooist i have ever been to has said the exact same thing. I have some color work that is 7 years old, and it still looks as good as it did day 1. Ink is for life, so is the aftercare

I don't know a lot about tattoos. But everywhere I read swears to Use A & D on the Tatts. But this chick friend of mine swears A & D pulls the ink out and I typically trust the internet a lot more. But asking opinions of anybody that knows alot about them on here. would be greatly appreciated
she swears it caused fading
Your friend is a complete moron that can't think for herself and has no idea what the hell she is talking about.

Aquafor is best, A&D is ok, neosporin is what draws the ink out, not A&D. bitch slap your chick friend for being wrong
^ This. used A&D on mine and still looks like I got it yesterday.

Anti-bacterial Soap is #1.........followed by Bag Balm. Yes BAG BALM. I had never heard of it before but NOW I swear by it at least. Look it up. If its good enough to rub on a Cows TEETS why not on your skin?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I have half sleeves on both arms with pushing 40+ hours of work. I totally agree with the statement that aftercare is as important as the quality of the tattoo. If you dont take of it the quality of the work doesnt really matter.

I have 6 tats and used aquaphor every time with great success. A good friend of mine used A&D on a tat he got the same day as I did and he had alot of fading compared to mine (like, a whole lot. His was a cover up and it didn't work). I think it has to do with the fact that A&D is alot more runny then Aquaphor. There are off-brand Aquaphor's you can get at pharmacies like cvs but generally they contain more vasaline & less active ingredients, for a buck more it's worth it just to get the real thing. But after seeing my friend's tat's with a&d i'll never use that stuff.

Use Nothing but warm water and soap.

oientments and balms create a air tight seall not allowing moisture to penatrate or

escape from the skin.

Use loition that is unscented and no aloe. Curel works best.

Days 1-4 wash 3 times a day and pat dry (dial recommended)

Days 5-10 wash tatt 3 times a day w/ warm soapy water and apply lotion.

You may use any lotion you prefer as long as its Not scented and it does Not

contain aloe.

After 10th day apply loation at least once a day to help keep the tattoo looking

like new.

Always remember to protect you tatt from fading by applying sun block when

in the sun.

My Whole Back is covered it took roughly 5-6 dayys tops (after each session 3-8hrs sits) to heal.

21hrs so far another 8 more to go...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ive used oientments in the past nothing works or heals faster then warm soapy water.

The faster you dry it out (scabbing) the faster it flakes off/closes up.

Whatever you do, make sure to never rub the tattoo with anything rough. Always be sure to gently pat it dry when you wash it. I was in a hurry one morning and didn't think when getting out of the shower, and rubbed a couple pieces of scab off, and now the coloring is slightly off in a couple small spaces. Not very noticeable at all, but I know it's there and it bugs me.

Well, I’m a retired (not by choice by medical reasons) tattoo artist. I read lots of bullshit here... If you use A&D or Neosporin or any of those types of things your ink isn’t going to fade cause of it. All you need to do is to keep your skin as moist as possible while it heals. Anything is better then nothing as said before. I personally use and tell most people to use bag balm. I have used it for almost 20 years now and it’s great. I have also used curel non scented or colored. Which worked fine but didn’t keep as moist for so long.

Like mentioned just wash it up, don’t worry about anti bacterial soap it all works the same (even dr's are recommending not to use it any more) I like to use green soap to wash mine and after I give a tat. Then just standard non deodorant/scented or colored soap. Several times daily till healed. Pat dry with 100% cotton cloth don’t rub itch scratch or play. Almost all the messed up tats I have ever seen I can tell are cause of after care. People love to pick their tats and rub them or get sun tans.

also dont forget, every artist is diff and lots are full of shit. do what ya want but if you want a cheap result and a reliable one that will work 100% give bagbalm a shot...

if the shop carries is h2ocean makes i couple aftercare products that are sweet, otherwise a & d for the first 3 days then switch to a vit E cream for another week and your golden.

Always used a&d and mine came out fine. Have 6 of them and over 30 hours of work. Like others said about washing is fine. I used dial soap most of the time and then pat dry and put on the a&d and mine look good.

My one tattoo artist did scar the fawk out of my one arm. I will never go back to that fukker! I still have yet to find a really dedicated tatt go locally. 6 tat's, 4 artists. 4 out of the 6 I got look good IMO, but the other two need redone. Has nothing to do with the healing process, just the tattoo artists with a heavy hand.

buddy of mine has lots of tats, he let every one but his most recent air dry, the most recent he used that A&D shit and it scarred up bad..... i say air dry the way to go, all his ink looks nice

Use A/D on the tat for a couple of days and then you need to leave it be. When you apply it, very very small amounts. Just enough to cover it up.
Here is the aftercare instructions from the place I get my work done:

Excellent point! Don't want to put a ton of it on. Just enough to cover it with a thin coating.

I usually go a few days with the A/D and let it be.
