I have had them on for 7 months and the ortho said I should only need them on for a year. I think mine were around $2000, but I only needed them on my top teeth.
I remember the first day I got them on I was real close to going there and telling them to take the **** things off. After a few days or so you get used to them and forget that they are there. I think they are more annoying than painful most of the time.
Although it kind of sucks being 19 years old with braces I will feel a lot better about myself than I did before I had them so it will pay off.
Oh yeah you can still eat whatever you want just be careful.
