Anybody have tips for box "sound"

If I get these 4 12" L7s, not entirely sure if I want to get 2 doubleshots for them. That would certainly save me space, but those boxes are geared toward SQ. I want my L7s to get deafening loud, but I hate ported boxes and how they peak off. My friends ported box we built for his 12" Type R was tuned to 32hz at 2.5 cubes and it didn't get loud and peaked off terribly, anything over 50hz was practically inaudible. If I did decide to build a ported box, what would get the L7s at sickening levels but not drop off. I still want the range from 45-60hz to be substantially loud. That's why I loved my snailshell so much, 37hz was definitely the loudest it got, dropped a little bit in the 50-75hz range (not too too much), and then 75-100hz got freakishly loud somehow (Jack Johnson would make my ears ring). Anyways, I just want to be heard from really far away and want it so you have trouble breathing in the car, but also would like it so it doesn't peak from 37-50hz and then no more bass...

well that would make the box the loudest it could possibly probably be, but it would be in like the 50-60 hz range it would sound like ***. with 8 cubes i would only use 2 of those l7s and built a giant *** sealed box if you want less peaky.

1.0 sealed per sub (thier own chamber) or two per for more air and depending on amp.

Into a 4.6 cuft ported with 80 sqin of port tuned to 64-66.

If you have the room:

1.3 sealed per sub.....into a 5.4 cuft with 80 sqin of port tuned to 62-64.

This for a 4th order alignment.

If your really stuck with only 8 cubes and have 4 12s you might want to leave them sealed 2 cubes per and give them lotts of power.

wtf, tuned to 64-66, that just pisses the **** outta me. Do you have to be such a dick, or are you actually giving that as a suggestion.
Dude thats how 4th order work.....it helps smooth out peaks.

It works with how the sealed box tuning is the bigger the sealed the lower the box tune(handles less power) and pounds lower notes and you tune the ported side lower to match and smooth the response out. When you go smaller sealed it raises the tuning(in essence) and you go up on the ported tune to make it have a smoother responce thus it is smooth but will peak alittle higher.

And dont call me a Dick just because you dont know something:rolleyes:

just build a well designed enclosure for the subs, or the best you can within the limits of your cuft area. knowing the resonant frequency of the vehicle will help you tune and or attenuate those freqs if they peak too high. also a subwoofer EQ will help you adjust the sound, make those freqs that are not as loud louder and attenuate the freqs that are too loud. having alot of cone area will get you loud, but having a well design enclosure will get you louder and with a best frequency responce. also feed the subs with the power they need. those are just the some basic knoledge.

The Bold is the combine box, there is a sealed side and a ported side.

Like this except for 4 subs into 1 ported side. The only part that you get sound from is the Ported area the rest is hidden.(this is a 6th order yours wouldnt have the 3" ports in it,they would be sealed)

hmm, so would 8 cubes (37hz) and a powerbass xa3000d be sufficient. If I'm gonna put this much into a system, I want to get it as loud as possible but keep some SQ. So about 60% SPL, 40% SQ.

Im gonna put 1500 per on my 2 12"L7s in 6-7 cubes........I would think that you would need 2 of those for 4 Subs.

Ill post up once I get my other MD2 and gain match them.
