Anybody good with small engines? (2 stroke)

I thought i was, but this one has me puzzled. First off i know troy-bilt is garbage, but it ran fine last summer. I have replaced the plug, installed a brand new complete carb assembly, installed new fuel lines, checked for spark, replaced the gasket on the rear starter cover that typically plagues these models, and still nothing. Its getting fuel all the way to the cylinder, and good spark. Still can't even get a sign of life. Im at a loss of what to do now. Any ideas before i throw it in the river?

You have spark and fuel, but do you have compression?

Maybe stuck/bent/leaky valve or you need new piston rings.

Do a compression test and report back

It feels the same as new, it was only used a handful of times. I dont have a gauge handy, but it feels right.

is the timing right ??

is the spark strong enough ?

you can buy a tester at most auto part stores to check if its strong.

so imo it ether....

and that if your getting enough fuel to cylinder.

or fouled plug.

get some starting fluid and see if it will start, or act like its trying to fire off.

Yes brand new carb, could be out of adjustment. I cant get any signs of life at all. Everything has been replaced that could be gummed up. Im not going to spend any more money on this POS. Every place has said they are trash, good for 6 months at best.

No, im just saying its getting fuel. Ive tried pouring a cap full straight into the cylinder and everything, still not even a fire.

Im gonna try starting fluid and borrow a gauge tomorrow. It doesn't make sense why it won't even attempt to start...

Well stick a fork in it, this ones done. I took the muffler off and theres metal shavings in the exhaust port big time...
