Any Rifle People Here ??

BTW, if i hunt ill be hunting deer with no more than a 200 Yard shot and proly more or less around a 100 Yard shot.
cant go wrong with a .308. tones of ammo choices and aftermarket loading options. extreamily accurite and my little sister can shoot it with out felling all beat up afterwards.

ive had excellent results with 165gr. nosler balistic tip rounds in my .308 for hunting. thats the round i droped my big deer at over 300 yds with.

I only collect the WW2 rifles.

I have the 8mm Mauser (Russian Capture)

A Jap Type 30 (Vet Bring Back)

and a Italian Carcano ( don't know where the hell it came from, its ww2 though)

I would personally buy an AR-10 (.308) Lower, And slowly build the upper to fit my need's. Itd be more then your looking to spend [Could be done for $625ish tho.], but its my favorite rifle. [Altho a Tad heavy for hunting, Ive used mine for white tail.]

Next up to the plate, Would be my SKS's. Due to the rounds being cheap(ish), and the fact that they can be highly modfied, to the point its "technically" a new rifle. Its not nesicarily a target rifle tho, And it is a Military style rifle, Which you mentioned you didnt want. They are Cheap tho.

my stevens 30-06 would come in 3rd. Nice round, But im a little guy and altho the kick dont hurt too bad, I definantly feel it.

Ive got a nice ruger .243 as well. Its definantly capable of taking deer.

Ever hunt bear? Ive never had the chance. Wanted to SOO bad when i was out in Clifton Forge / Covington VA for work. However the boss didnt like us mixing work with play. 7 day's a week, 10 hour day's+.

The TC encore would be nice. A guy i used to hunt with had one. he had a .50cal black powder barrel, And a .22-250 barrel for it.

For just target shooting, look into getting a 22.

They're cheap, fun to shoot, you can get like 550 shots for $18 bucks. But, if you want to do something heavier... I'd say go with 30-06.

Thats the 8mm. The 8mm Mauser. I believe its a 1940. It's in great shape for being a Russian capture. Most of them are beat to hell.

My dad has the WW2 M1 Garand and the WW2 M1 Carbine. I also have a German Walther P38 vet bring back my dad gave to me. It's really nice. It's late war so it still has the machine marks from the machine that produced it. It still has lots of blue.

The most collectible piece from WW2 my Dad had was a German Mauser "Mountain Rifle" (G33/40) If you want to look them up. It was beat to hell and it had a mismatched bolt (comes to find out all of them do) and it still brought around 1200.

22's are also a good round to use for learning trigger pull(or squeeze), breathing and bolt operations(if its a bolt gun).

and yes, 500+rnds for under $20. thats a good day of fun without the bruised shoulder.

here is my .22 target rifle. its good for 1.25" 10 shot groups at 200yds off a sand bag. this is with remmington bulk pack 550rnd ammo and NO wind at all.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i wish i had a pic, but my dad has a german 7.57 mauser made in lowe berlin in 1895. all of the #s are matching except for the stock. all of the writing on the gun is german. he had the bolt cut and turned down and the reciever drilled and taped for scope mounts:crying:. the date is also stamped on the barrel and reciever.

it will still shoot 1.5moa groups at 100yds with hunting loads he makes, not bad imo for a 100+ year old gun.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

on the mismatched bolt, the bolt out of my sweedish mauser will fit, and work in his mauser and mine was made in 1950.

The story is on those Mausers is they all gave up in a group when they surrendered, and held their bolts in the air showing their gun could not fire. I think they just threw them in a pile and some G.I. just threw them back together when captured. I haven't ever heard of a matching G33/40 bolt on that kind of gun.
