i was just wondering if there are any other freshman in college on here and would like to kno wwhat you guys think of it. how far away from home are you and how well did you adjust? this thread may help out some of the people still in high school when they are choosing colleges. feel free to give a response even if you arent a freshman and explain how it was when you were a freshman.

for me...i love college. i go to james madison university in harrisonburg, virginia. it is 8 hours away from my house in Syracuse, New York. i love the freedom and the ability to decide my whole schedule for the day. i love not being told to do things, because that just makes me not want to do them even more. i didnt have a hard time adjusting to college. even though i have a ton of work, about 4 hours a night, i don't really mind. the freedom is worth it. the school i go to is known to be a big party school, and i have to agree. even though that may seem like a bad thing, i like it. as long as you are smart enough to control your partying, you are fine. there are parties all the time here, so when i do have a free night, i can always find somewhere to go. i just really love the freedom and i love the college environment. unlike high school, the good looking girls here arent complete idiots. they know how to speak and write real english. i have only been here a little over a month and i cannot explain how much i can already tell that college is the best thing that i will ever experience. i have never had so much fun and also learned so much in my life.

Sorry it's so long, but for all you juniors and seniors in high school, i highly recommend you read this, it may help you.

I remember my Freshman year of college........best year of my life. Unfortunately, it goes downhill after that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I'll second that one...I'm a sophomore and already it is going to hell...Should have been a history major :p

What sucks about college is after you get accustomed to the freedom, and after you get your all basic classes done with, you realize why you're really going to college, and that's when the fun factor begins to dwindle.

you mean im not here for the beer and the girls dancing on tables half *****, and sometimes completely *****?
I get to hear that every Friday and Saturday night as I am in my room doing homework for my degree. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif Engineers don't get to sleep too often; lucky thing my roommate is an undecided freshmen and I use him as bait... Send him out, he brings back 3 or 4 girls back and when I have seen all that I want to see, back to homework. Sounds pigish but I don't do more than look. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

yea yea. big ups to engineering lol. im in my freshman year and im goin into electrical. the thing is...i HAVE to keep at least a 3.0 ALL THROUGH COLLEGE. im in calc right now and this shit is haaaaard. i have 4 years of calc1,2,3,an 4 to go through. im at tmeple university right now, but if i get as good at my shit as i plan to (im working my ****ing *** OFF) i could transfer to somewhere thats got more money - wouldnt be a bad idea.

im commuting, driving 15mins to and fro.....better than i thought it would be...but next year i plan on getting an apartment with a friend of mine.....that'll be good stuff.

I just hope the demnd for good EE majors stays high. when i get done with my b.s. i wanna get a job and work on my master- then maybe to doctorate...but its really really early to say "i wanna get my doctorate" i got years and years to go...

wish me luck

College used to be cool.....Just remember this kiddies engineers have no lives in school whilst business majors can go party almost every night of the week.

I hate those **** mother ****ing business/marketing people.

Think of it this way a business degree can get you a decent job about 30 - 40 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif a year to start and you get to party in college, but with the engineering (electrical) degree from a respectable college can grab you in 40 - 50 for a basic BS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif , and there is no where to go but up!! and then you have enough time and money to party the rest of your life... Keep workin hard!!!

Calc 4 thats all I had to take Differential Eqns after that... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif rough stuff, good luck!!!

by all means i will sacrifice my partying abilities if i have to to get my shit. a bs in EE is way more important to me than getting shitfaced every night (dont get me wront...thats fun stuff). I intend to work as hard as i have to to get my shit. parties or no parties ima whoop some ***. i wouldnt change my major even if business and ee had the same avg starting salary. IMO business is boooooooring... money this, money that market this, market that, stocks up, stocks down...blah blah blah blah lol....however the reactance of a capacitor is quite exciting.
