any firefighters/emt/paramedics here?

I would hope you are doing this out of desperation, as I could only only imagine the type of person who actually enjoys scooping up dead bodies:crap:
you guys dont realize that instances where taht happens are EXTREMELY rare, we mostly get medical calls or calls to where little retards cant ride their bikes in a straight line and mess up an ankle

You are from Houston? Which is a major city, you will get some of the grimiest calls ever....... Good luck with this, I could maybe handle the grown adult calls, it would be the calls about kids that would be very tuff. I worked at a hospital once, for about 6 hours and then quit.......

i live on the outskirts of houston actually, and ill be working with cypress creek EMS in spring, they cover 250 square miles but they have an average call volume but most are just sick calls in the area ill be working, and the car accidents ive seen with them so far were all no injuires, and the cops get to clean up after us, and if its that bad, we usually end up calling lifeflight or the coroners office

Yea I don't know how they do it. That's why I don't understand why they don't get paid more it's crazy

Yeah, I am an EMR, same as an EMT-B but Canadian version. Blood and guts don't bother me. Its amazing what the human body is/isn't capable of. Your worst call will be a child, who is screaming in pain, and there isn't a whole lot you can do for them. Thats why I became an industrial medic, all adults.

I took emt at valencia colledge in orlando.

it was ok

but the clinical traning sessions I had were massively gory.

all kinds of wrecks and dead people.

shits out of control.

I passed the course - and have full knoledge about doing it - but I know I will never do that for a job.

so yeah

be safe - wear gloves 24/7 - keep hand sanatizer about your person all the time and use it...

watch out for the crazies.

and talk to people ( not this fourm ) when you have bad experiences. and good luck to you sir

im very aware lol, idk that kinda thing just doesnt affect me really idk why but thanks! thats wierd though b/c students down here are referred to as the "white cloud" to EMS providers so all students get crap for calls on clinical rotations, i had a cardiac arrest and a lady that had a triple A and thats it
