By no means indication you can use them subless. The 30hz those 6.5's attempt to reproduce is at such low output that it serves no purpose other than for bass integration up front with a subwoofer should you cross them lower than midbass range. You'll also limit that drivers powerhandling playing that complete range.
Being discontinued, thats the last thing one needs to try to find out.

Thats what i was thinking. I really would like to try out the cdt 06+'s. Prolly Build a sealed enclosure and see if they can drop to 45hz.

Those kenwoods are a good deal... if they don't sound better than the Polk's, these will:

MB Quart QSC216 - $199 - ikesound

- also might see if you can still find Orion "P" series... they might sound close to the Quarts.

Another good regular price is the madisound component speakers for $120 by Vifa... same as Nakamichi set that lists for $319

Kicker SS series seem to be priced low all over the net also.

Lots of good deals out there.

That Kenwood set is a crazy drop. Something tells me the depth on those mids is a deal breaker for many. Them Zobel network xovers are likely worth that price alone.

Yep, that's the very reason that I can't use them. For someone who was going to do kicks it might very well be worth trying.

You can find those same speakers on ebay. Crutchfield is just legit.

Just last week crutchfield had them retail at 499.99, lol. They have sold for 199.99 ever since they came out. Oh and the tweet on them is cherry, just everything below sucks. You should be able to search for them, I as well as a few others have commented on them as lacking down below. Pretty much was not impressed at all, save your money and spend it else where. Crystals, Rainbow, Polk ...ect can be had for the same price and you know there solid performers. But if you want to try something new and be different(not a bad thing at all), try something else besides the kenwoods.

I don't think that there is any real danger that people will be flocking to this set anytime soon -- just find them interesting. But they are to friggin big -- at least for me.

Well there I dont think they will be flocking to them either, but there are going to be a few people that will be buying this set of components, and I for one hate to see people waste their money on something sub par. So, I believe its better to save 1 person the burden of getting something they will not be happy with; and wasting their hard earned money, than to not save anyone at all.

Sounds a little overboard, I know. But wouldnt you be pissed if you went and spent 200.00 of your hard earned cash to find out you could have been better off with a 60.00 coaxial set?

How much depth do you have to work with?

2 1/2" without spacers. I have no idea what depth I could go to with some modification since the only components I have put in the 99 4 Runner fit that spec.

Thanks man, I am pretty open with regards to brand. My primary preference is for SQ -- would rather be too warm than too harsh -- if that helps. Thanks again.

Ya they are that bad. Hate to say it but it true and Im not the only one who believes so.

^ they are not as bad as you make them to be. My old shop manager had them installed in his Ranger in a very well deadened door and for a kenwood set they were good and probably for anything you find from say MTX, Alpine, Kenwood or Sony, they'll be one of the better. Not as good as you might find from other companies but i don't know of many 60$ coax that will match it. It was more overexaggerated on the midbass than I liked and the highs were slightly too harsh at high volumes but definitely better than the 60$ Kenwood KFC coax's you get.
