Looking to get a heavy bag for some cardio/strength training... if you had to choose between a canvas or a vinyl bag, what would you pick, and why?

These 2 are local for a good price each...

Either one look better than the other? Both 40 bucks each, and in good shape. 75 pounds each.

Thanks!

If you are going to go bare knuckle the vinyl would be better on your hands. Canvas would last longer but it has less "give" to it and more of an impact on your joints.

You want canvas, vinyl *****, rips, peels, cracks, looks like b.s. Canvas will last, watch the wrists though, canvas is tougher on the hands and wrists!!!! GET SOME 6OZ GLOVES!!!! DON'T BE TRYING TO GET NO HEAVY GLOVES, ANYTHING OVER 10OZ UR GONNA GET RUBBER ARMS....

Totally agree try 8 oz training gloves and work ur way down or up in weight. Ur wrist and knuckles over time will be more tolerant to the impact. I like to use the 8 oz for cardio and speed work. We used 16 oz boxing gloves for sparring with a 20 push up penalty for rubber arms.

Indoors= canvas
Outdoors = vinyl
neither for outdoors, canvas gets heavy and hard as a rock, then usually the top eyelets rip off the bag from the weight, vinyl will far a little better but after the vinyl starts to crack or split it goes downhill really fast!!!

Thanks for all the info. guys. I am going to go with the canvas bag. Id like a little more resistance anyhow. I think im better off with that. Also, you only recommend 6-8 ounce gloves? I have like a 315 bench, weigh about 210. Im a bit bigger than your average Joe. The lighter gloves will still be a nice cardio burn?

Yes 6-8 for cardio. I train with heavyweight and avg joes and i can tell u even the big guys have trouble holding those big gloves up. Plus with all that padding ur more likely to roll ur wrist. But like i said start with 8 and work up or down to ur liking.
