I've never heard it like that.

But usually the lower the number the closer the cut.

I think 3 is shorter. I know this cause my barber used to use a 3 on me, and when I asked for shorter, he switched to a 2.

#3 is shorter, I get #2 on top and #1 on side which is pretty short on top and almost bald on the sides.

Same here..I used to get a Zero Blend...untill i got sick of having to go to a barber because the hotties at a cutting place dont know how to do it...

Zero being no guard is shortest and then it goes up. Each number is a longer cut
