Any amp i install in my car gets hot quick?

I hate trying to troubleshoot that stuff. Does sound like ground to me. do a google search on "richard clark" and bad grounding . He explains this very problem. hope this helps. you got big 3 done?

it sounds like you are using an amplifier for 15 minutes at full volume.

i have a solution, dont listen to it at full volume for 15 minutes. it seems you dont believe that an amp rated for 1000w @ 2 ohms will get hot when ran at 2 ohms trying to produce 1000w for any period of time.

amps get hot, this is why the chassis is usually a solid aluminum heatsink.

Hey Dr. Chronic

Those Alpine's M-line run pretty hot.

1)-recheck your RCA's, if only one side is working you may need to buy a new set.

you could be forcing the amp to over work its duties

2)-What ohm load are you runnning your subs? like how do you have them wired up?

3)-you maybe clipping the amp?

you said you have the amp load @ 2ohms are you sure of that???,

4)-you maybe clipping the amp.

some amps arent meant to be abused or wire any way as we like.

Pretty sure the amp isnt clipping, big 3 is done, and i think the ground is fine, but im gonna try running a ground from the frame to a distro block, then to the amp. My 4ch is grounded upfront on the chassis and it never gets hot but i dont drive it hard either. What im saying is like i can play 1 song at close to full volume, and the amp will get hot and shut off halfway (drops 6db in output) Subs are brand new and wired to 2 ohms btw.

About the thing with RCAs, one has variable output from 0 volume all the way up to full tilt (reaches 4 volts at about 48 volume and i set the gain with it at 45) max on hu is 62. The right side (red) RCA doesnt put out shit no matter what the volume is. Ill do some more testing later, this may actually be the problem. When i first got the M1000 i could wang the shit out of it and it would barely get hot, as it has tons of ventilation, Im sending it off for repair next week and make sure i fix the problem before i reinstall. Gonna investigate the RCA issue now.
