8W7's are descent woofers... sound really loud for "just an 8". youd be happy with a pair of them (except maybe the price) in a properly built enclosure, with a descent amount of power.

very capable of handling more than their RMS rated power of 300 watts.

This guy has one in a acura integra in those special High Output boxes with the fire red material and f it does not sound like an 8.

I've heard a 8w7 and a 10w7 in my truck. They do not sound like their respective sizes and they put out some sound...BUT, for some reason it just didn't sound good in my Xtracab. I went with 2 12w6v2's and couldn't be happier. Sounds much cleaner and hits low and hard. Just my 2 cents, from someone thats heard them all in the same vehicle.

Ya, i used to own one....paid 800 dollars for the sub amp and the HO box with the red eye thing.

I sold it for 750.

I nwo have a 12" shiva with a 1889i MA Audio amp in a box i designed and built myesfl. This cost me 350

I think they're pretty much equal except for the fact that my box looks like shit and its a bit bigger than the w7. Other than that, id say dont spend more money than you have to...go for a dif. brand.

I agree on the money...JL's Rock but way over priced. For $200 not if $300 you could be getting some kind of RE, Orion, Kicker, etc. All the same amount of power and much more. JL's rock though. Use to own the 13W7. It hit like no other. I was actually thinking of going with three of the eights because they hit so hard but I liked the 13. A lot of money. Sold all my JL stuff and got 2 12" Kicker L7's and the Kicker KX1200.1 which are louder then the W7 series, with the proper tunning done to them, and I spent $500 less. Just my 2 cents as well

you know what I just realized.....everytime someone mentions JL's there is a response of "overpriced"......yet people are still buying the helll out of em. Reason is, they sound wonderful and a lot of people are willing to pay the extra money for the sound quality. I am not one of those people because my money isn't much and for my current preferences what I am running right now will suffice. I dont think anyone is questioning the quality of the w7. Everyone agrees that they sound very nice. The thing is they're basically like the abercrombie of the sub world. The subs are nice and name brand, but you could get somethin that sounds pretty much the same (looks the same for the analogy) for a shitload less. Just gotta know where to shop and what to shop for.
