anyone get them? the love of my life recently started to get them after her mom had an episode.. it was weird.. her mom told us about her experience with a severe panic attack.. two days later the love of my life had one.. she has been reading up on it since and explaining what shes read to me.. basically anxiety attacks are when people feel SO SCARED of being scared.. or something like that.. whatever it is, it really takes over your life like youd never thought. she cant go to the mall really cuz shes afraid shell have one there.. and the fact that shes afraid to have one there triggers it when she thinks about it so its a very very vicious cycle. and im not just talking about the mall of course, it can happen anywhere. anyone ever have anxiety attacks? i wanna get her a special xmas gift on top of the gift im already planning to get her.. and i want this special gift to ease her or help her with her condition.. but i just cant think of a gift that can ease her anxiety or anything related. anyone here ever have anxiety attacks? if so, is there any object or something that made it easier to have or deal with anxiety?? please dont say vibrator or something a wise-*** would say. serious subject please..

A gun? j/k

Find something that can grab her attention quickly. Something she likes a lot.
yeah, it doesnt have to be anything big. Somthing that she can allways have with her, and if she loves u as deeply as you seem to love her, tell whenever she becomes frightened and hold the gift you got her and just think of you. Basicly anything really important to her so she forgets shes scared

I had these back in elementary school, it's some crappy stuff to go through! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Mine was triggered when one time I choked on some pizza or something, then after that it was like I couldn't get food to go down cause I was scared of choking again. I couldn't breath part of the time because I was panicing so much, my mom took me to the doctor and I seriously thought that I was gonna pass out cause I couldn't breath. It's some scary stuff, I just had to stick it out and now I'm fine! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I believe this is linked through genetics cause my dad used to get them as well when he was in his early 20's.

Anxiety attacks are different in everyone. I've had them and they're not fun. You feel like everyone is watching you, the way you walk, the way you move. You feel like the entire room is staring at you. Your heart starts beating hard and you have a hard time breathing. I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist. Zoloft worked for me and it seems to be the drug of choice for others. There's nothing YOU can do to ease her anxiety.

I dealt with them for 4-5 years myself and it seriously destroyed my life, my friends, my family. I was afraid to do anything in large crowds. Go places I didnt know(ie out of state, etc etc.)

I used Zoloft for almost 3 years but it is sometimes worse than just dealing with them. Its a fear mine stemmed from finding my father dead. Generally its from a traumatizing experience.

I decided about 2 years ago to kick the drugs, it wasnt helping anything and begin finding out what was causing them. Realizing your not going to die, choke, stop breathing etc etc is a huge step in controling them. You know what it feels like so when it starts you need to control it. Dont let it control you/her

Best thing you can get for her is knowledge. Be there for her, work thru this with her. Try to understand what she is going thru. At times many people with panic attacks will actually feel there insane.

Get her to talk to you, to get it out in the open, for her to realize she is not alone.

If you need me for any reason just shoot me a PM.

I wouldnt wish Panic Attacks on my worst enemy.

i'm sorry to hear about your father dude.. at least he's home (in heaven) now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks a lot for the info.. ill be sure to hit u up if i have any important questions or the like. god bless

I currently have them.

I usually get a panic attack when I think about having a panic attack..

Mine really scare me because my arm will tingle or go numb and then I scare myself into thinking im going to have a heart attack...

Or i feel like im about to lose sanity... it's really a scary / odd feeling..

What i've learned to do is when I feel nervous or anxious I focus on something *HARD!* like i will flip the tv channels and read the tv station info until i relax... I also just tell myself to forget it... holding A reaaaallly cold bottle of water in my hands...helps too..

In the beginning it really affected every aspect of my whole life but i've pretty much learned how to deal with it...

Some people are able to control them over time other people have much more serious attacks and need medication...
