Say ive got two enclosures.. one is 4ohms at the lead and the other is 2 ohms...

rms is 400 watts...

Ive got an amp that does 400 X 1 @ 2ohms and 200 X 1 @ 4 ohms.. Using this amp which enclosure will produce more DB... My manger is telling me that they will both sound the same... as even though current doubles.. gain doesnt.. This doesnt make sence to me so i was seeing if you guys could explain it a little better...

Explanation is that as 400 @ 2 ohms is going to give you the same output as 200 @ 4 ohms.. because even though current doubles it doesnt affect your gain any..

I guess im not making myself clear lol..

Here is a little story behind it.. We got a new kicker enclosure in the other day and hooked it up.. It is a 4ohm enclosure that is rated at like 350 watts.. The amp running it is a mtx that does 200 X 1 at 4 ohms.. I told him we needed to hook it up to the other amp beside it that does 400 x 1 at 4 ohms to see if it would sound better.. He basically told me i was stupid for saying that and what was it going to take to get through my head that it would sound the exact same no matter what amp it was on.. basically saying that If you have a amp that does 1200 @ 1 ohm.. 600 @ 2 ohm and 300 @ 4 ohm and a sub with each impedence that each sub will read the same DB

that doesnt make any sense, more power will be flowing so there will be more power converted into sound output
