Another which sub for setup

Currently running Alpine mrx 110 1100wrms amp with 1 12 rf tod412 which I've killed. Current box is 2.5 ported at 35hz. I've been doing lots of searching an reading. Budget is $300.

Couple that seem to come up alot and I might just be splitting hairs here. I like a sub that can get down when I want it to, I'm an Ol school basshead. Rest of my system is cdt components.

Not even close. One is a 220oz motor while the other is a 340oz. The TS parameters are completely off too, Very different woofers.

Just because the XFLs started putting on direct leads does not make them "basically the same woofers".

The one thats very similar to the HDC3 is the massive audio hippo series which is a 320 oz motor but still have different ts parameters and sound very different too.

Just looked it up. Not a good comparison. The ab hd would a closer sub in the same class. Also they were redesigned 2 years ago

Very different after very closely reading and comparing the two and several others, I do want something efficient, I'm looking for more sq then spl but will work best for amp I already have Alpine mrx 110 1100wrms and current box is 2.5 ported at 35hz. I listen to wide range of music. But open to other sub's in the $300 range.

I ordered SSA gcon, had to go back and look at my ported box that I had member build it's 2.5 tuned at 33hz

The dcon is a 2" coil woofer and rated for 400watts and your going to put a alpine 1100 on it? Keep that gain turned down. U should have got a 3" coil woofer like the GCON

coulda went with an Icon instead with the power you have. Great choice though.

$300 budget and build time for icon was factor right now. This is also my show in go car, got race next weekend out of town an wanted tunes for the trip. The daily will probably get the icon come spring.

Fast shipping from SSA the gcon is nice, very stiff needs broken in. So far it's great upgrade very solid deep hard bass an accurate. It blends will with rest of my system, running cdt 6x9 components up front.
