Another S-10 Blazer issue

Just replaced my stock Delco with a Pioneer DEH-P47 (thanks again for everyone's help). A couple reasons for the upgrade (other than it being a better overall unit):

1) AM reception was completely gone and FM was very weak

2) Only the front left speakers (top and door) worked consistently

3) The CD player with ERR codes.

I know the cause of 1-3 above may not have been the head unit, but it was slowly degrading anyway and I hoped for some improvement.

After installing the Pioneer, my FM improved 100% but still no AM. The speaker situation has not improved, but the CD works great.

Questions:

1) What would cause no AM reception taking into account its probably not the head unit ?

2) What's the best way to track the speaker problem and is there a factory amp that I need to bypass?

on the speakers that are bad find the pos and neg of each. you can pop them with a 9v battery to make sure you have right set (but color code should be straight with your deck lol. test the speaker leads with a dmm set to ohms. if the good ones read around 4 and the bad read something else you know its just bad speakers if none read about 4 ohms then you probably have an amp somewhere but i doubt it in a blazer

my blazer doesn't have an amp.. you probably blew your speakers.. do what the guy above me said and test them out with a DMM... I have no idea about your problem with AM radio reception.. if anyone you know has a blazer like yours jack there attenna and see if it helps lol.. but of course give it back and go by your self a new one... if you have any more questions about your blazer hit me up.

I get what you guys are saying but it seems weird to me that 4 of 6 speakers would be blown. Thats why I was thinking a connection hub or loose wire(s) was the cause. I will start checking speaker by speaker and see what I get.

if you can tell the car hasnt been taken apart much its pretty easy to know it isnt a loose wire....
