another noob question. Battaries?

So what is the role of a seperate battery for your Audio gear? the reason i ask is like any noob you are under the impression (before you get on an awsome site like this) that a Cap is all one needs when you get some power in your car.

i thought you needed a dedicated alternator for a second battery then i saw people without a HOA with second batteries. so where is the line drawn where you NEED another battery?

Capacitors ****, Kinetics rule. Depending on the system you are running you could buy a 2nd battery before a HO alt. It all depends on what your running.

THats why im asking. i have a 95 volvo 960 as a temp. from my accident. only problem is there was 4 other cars and 2 light poles i took out in the accident. even though it wasnt my fault and everyone admits that, my lawyer said that the insurance company will most likley drag this claim out for atleast a year. so that being said, i dont want to get a HOA for a car i dont plan on keeping. so batteries were my next option. i just dont know much about them.

BTW, for now im building my SPL set up which is 1 15 HD3, 1 hifonics 2000D and after that gets here im building my dailey which will be 2 W6s and 2 JL 500/1s. battery needed?
