Another Manufacturer Says Xbox 360 Blu-ray Coming This Year

if its one thing that we do know is microsoft always says they dont have any plans for something but one day there poofs what they had denied all along. they will make a Blu ray add on and it will finish off the PS3. it has been bill's mission from the beginning to dethrone the playstation as the gaming king and they have just about done it. the only thing left is to make the blu ray and there will be no reason for people to buy the playstation anymore. end of story

Does everyone forget that they offer HD movies on Xbox Live? Why the hell would they compete against themselves for HD content?
its not the same thing as HD-DVD format. that has been discontinued, HD is dead and i really hoped it would win.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i read somewhere that they are going to stop producing the 360's altogether sometime early next year, that true?
There are a lot of rumours swirling about a new Xbox and PS4 next year. There are a lot of people in the industry, though, who are encouraging the delay of their release for a variety of reasons. Most obvious are the economic concerns, but there are also a lot of worries that consumers will lose faith in the manufacturers and see the new consoles as another cash grab. Besides, the sales of the Wii have shown that technically proficient and commercially viable are two different things.

I have never completely followed why people were so sure that Microsoft would want a Blu-Ray add-on. If Microsoft went Blu-Ray, it would help push the format on consumers and make it more likely to succeed. However, that's not what Microsoft wants...from the beginning, they have been hoping to make the format war last as long as possible so they can transition to an on-demand downloading service. Gates has seen this (or alternatively, small footprint high capacity memory like flash) as the future of media and that is where the company is looking to in the future.

Thank You! I can't believe people think MS wants a blu-ray player when they have been pushing their HD On-Demand!

they will make it to finalize the downfall of the playstaion.
competition is a good thing. I don't see why you want them to go away. it will continue to push microsoft to create better and higher quality products and invest in better games.

I for one want them to stick around.

Ah, your not seeing the big picture: with the exception of the Wii, these companies don't do consoles as their company's leading product...they use them as a way to push their other products.

Sony uses the PS3 to push Blu-Ray and high def. Microsoft uses the 360 to push the media center and downloadable content.

Neither company is that concerned about the consoles as long as they don't crumble. Microsoft just got out of the red with the 360.
