Want to upgrade my alt, have had the stock 90 amp for 5+ years and its needing replaced.

Here are two of my options, not sure which one to do so im asking you guys.

-Local company has a 200 amp alt for $230. Pretty sure its a re-wound, forgot to ask. Guy said it should put out 150 or so at idle. Said he could clamp it after its installed. Any other way of seeing what it will do at idle before I drop the cash on it?

-Second option is that there was an upgraded stock 160 amp that came on some trucks(98 dakota) I could get that from the parts store for about $150.

Plan is to put a d3100 under the hood on whatever I decide to do. Then see what 2nd battery(s) I will need. Running a american bass 120.1 on some dd's and a pdx 150.4 on the highs

Opinions/ Advice? Thanks
