another help me pick a sub thread...

I'm having a hard time picking a sub...reason is I don't have alot of room to work with....

I have a 1997 Silverado Ext-Cab...the jack stand is removed, but I want to leave the rear seat in place...

i have a nice alpine hu, diamond hex s600 comps powered by a jl 300/4, and a kicker zx1500 for whatever subs i get...

i know i want two 8's....but i'm limited b/c of the whole mounting depth thing. the box i plan on will be downward firing, and maybe 6.5" tops in mounting depth...

with that being said, what subs would you recommend??

Any kind of shallow mount would probably work fine for what you need.

see, i've looked at those, but i thought that i would have too much power...those are all well under 500 rms watts....am i wrong to think this??

DD 1508's maybe? Not sure on the mounting depth of those but they're some beffy 8's for sure.

From what I've seen, 8" subs almost always have significantly less power handling than their larger brothers. Plus, your mounting depth requirements also limit what you can use.

Maybe you can modify the back see a little, raise it up or cut it down and use half of it?

I looked up the DD 1508s and they appear to have a mounting depth of about 5.25", so they should work fine and have 500 rms power handling.
