Meh...it's not that bad. There still in process of finishing getting it hooked up then run a test block. If you dunno what a test block is, not saying you dont but just a fyi, it test's the machines axes all at the same time and sometimes you can point out it's weakness areas. All axes will move simutainously to make this unique test block and sometimes at an angle, for angle cutting.I worked hands on woth the makino mag 1, loved it, but hated learning new g codes because i mainly run moriseiki.
I also ran a giusepi guiana italian machine and only 4 in the united states.
Its worth 1.5 million, but its only a giant bore machine.
@ OP dont you get bored just sitting there till it finishes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The company I work for has a variety of machines including mori sekis. Makino's, Cincinnati, Chiron, Robodrill, Hanndtmann, Mazak, Starrag cell, etc. All in all think we got about 40-45 spindles maybe more
All mills or lathes?
Im trying to get around to purchasing a 5 axis table mill to start doing custom projects, mainly engine stuff.

450,000$ for a used doosan puma (fanuc) 5 axis mill/lathe.All mills....and 5 axis stuff too. We do a lot of large spar/panel stuff. Long length parts.
You must have deep pockets if your looking at a 5 axis machine...
I see....gotta factor in machine set up/hook up, rigging, running power to it, etc I'm sure you know about it. it can add up pretty quickly. And a building to put it in. And a nice sturdy foundation to support it. We actually cut the foundation and poured a new slab to support the machine....something like 2 ft.+ deep450,000$ for a used doosan puma (fanuc) 5 axis mill/lathe.
Not deep pockets, have a large cash amount ready for down to allow to do payments which a couple projects should pay the machine off quick.

Sounds like you got it planned out.Renting out space at a machine shop with a company i work with..
We do work for ncs energy, haliburton/baker, etc.. So ill be using my machine and allowing the company to purchase work from me since my machine will allow them to get iso certified.
Currently they only do API and Non API since we do steel piping. Win win for both of us.

Lathe work is easy. Dealing with only 2 axis.I'd love to learn mills and lathes. I haven't found a job for entry level training for either. I've worked mainly with Amada punches. You want to see fast look at the trumpf 2020 or finn power s5 night train /eb combo.
