Got my first new sub in a long time,an Alpine SWR 823D,in the mail Saturday. It will be powered by a new JL HD900/5,which should arrive this week.I will mount the sub in a tube to start with,to make sure its output will be enough for my old ears, and because I have access to .750" wall, medium density PE pipe where I work.[natural gas industry] The 8" pipe comes in 40' lengths,so ANY enclosure volume is possible. 21" will give me 1/2cf for starters and can be shaved off a 64th of an inch at a time or more pipe fused on if returns begin to diminish. I plan to weld in some enclosures in the kick panel/footwell area of my truck,[91 Mazda extra cab] to house the front speakers and mount 4 Aura pro Bass shakers under the seats for impact without muddiness.I have several MB Quart components to choose from for the front, but have been toying with putting some Alpine Neo 6x9s in the kicks for a "fuller" sound. I ran some 6x9 Advent ICT's in my old comp car, back in the 90's,that sounded great coming from the kicks,so I know it can work,I'm just not sure that the common wisdom in the new age can offer more con's than pro's in this case. Any opinions? Thanks,
Steve
