Ancient Clarion subs

Hey everyone

I have two 8 in subwoofers that a got from a friend last year, and i haven't done much with them until now. They were originally in some cheap OSB box which was ported. It was shabby so i decided to build a sealed, mdf enclosure because the existing one had holes and cracks in it. The box i built is heavy and well sealed and is also insulated.

Anyway, the subs are two 8 inch Clarion ProAudio 4 ohms, rated 250W peak, they are 4 1/4 inches deep, weigh 9 pounds, and flub like a mofo at 100 watts in the sealed enclosure. Now they aren't as nice as i would have expected but they aren't bad. Iv'e been able to deduct that they are designed for a ported enclosure and that they are from approximately from 1994. Otherwise i can't find info about anything on the web.

I colored the Carboard around the speaker because it looked really worn, it was black.

The box is 10 1/4 in x 9 1/4 in x 19 in

Any help figuring out any specification and manufacturer information would be great!

Do 1.2 cubed tuned to 34hz and they will sound gooood.

Well, im not able to make another enclosure currently, but how do you tune a box exactly, or better yet, how do you figure out the current resonant frequency of the box?

Throw some max st 8s in there

I already have on on the way, real cheap $34

Do 1.2 cubed tuned to 34hz and they will sound gooood.

I cant currently make another enclosure but can u tell me how to tune a box, or better, find the resonant frequency of it?

well if it is sealed you cannot really tune it., maybe with some poly fill. the frequency of the box, since its sealed, is going to be relatively flat.

I mean i get that its a flat response, but like the sound coming from it is lower than its original vented box. Its also insulated about 1 pound i believe

im not sure what the problem is? they play lower... isnt that good?

I know, its bad, but i used insulation to fill the box

Sorry im not clear, i just wanted info if anybody knew about these specific subs, otherwise i bought a new sub for this box. Just when Brownvanman suggested tuning i dont know how to tune a box if i were to make one. Would it need to be vented?

well im confused cause you want dimensions for a new box, yet you cannot build a new one. so what i am guessing what your thinking about doing is adding a port to a sealed box. am i correct? i would advise not to do it, not really how you do things. but if you already bought new subs...

Next project and some more money ill be sure to use that, or even acousta-stuf, but for now im stuck with it unfortunately. I just calculated the inside of the box, its .68 cubic feet when i thought it would be .9+.... would it really make much of a difference?

Poly fill will not insulation haha

Okay, all im asking is HOW TO TUNE A BOX if i wanted to. Theres no way i can port a sealed box its too small. and plus the sub i ordered i believe asks for the current volume in the sealed box so that part is good too. Otherwise i originally asked if you knew anything about these specific Clarion subs. Sorry bout the misunderstanding
