An average 8" subwoofer box

so heres my issue. max outer dimentions are 9 inches wide and 26 inches deep.

currently i have the hight at 9" as well this gives me about .73 cubes before displacement.

as of now its ported with a 2" flared port about 11 inches long. it has a really steep roll off after about 35Hz and for some reason give the sub very little dampening above 50hz.

so what im wondering is is if i were to make another box would going with a slot port help, i can also make the last 10 inches of the box high by about 4 inches to help increace box volume to allow for more port area. Plus i can always invert the sub (kinda want to anyway) so theres even a tiny bit more air space.

menards local has a 4x8 sheet of birch hard wood on sale for 24.99 so i feel like i NEED to take advantage of this deal.

thanks!!!!!

a sundown E8 for now maybe a SA-8V1 as they are getting really cheap with the recent releace of the v2

thats why i said an average 8 box because im sure ill be swapping and trying different subs here and there
