Amps staying on, help?

Its wierd. I dont drive my truck that often (maybe once in the past few months) and it dies- my fault i think, i dont start it but once a month, if that, and it has been dying

I usually try to start it during the day, and i checked my amps, to see if something was odd, and maybe they were staying on, and the power light wasnt on (VERY noticable- BRIGHT blue) but I tryed it tonight, and noticed that the protect light was on VERY faintly.

so I unhooked the remote (the switched power on my deck from the vehicle is shorted somewhere, cant find the problem) so I usually just take the deck face off, and it turns off the deck, always has in the past?) and I noticed that the lights were still faint, but on.

So I remove the power wires from both, still on!

Remove the RCA's and the lights go off?

Can anyone think of ANYTHING that would cause this?

huh. never seen that before. the power light stays on for a significant amount of time with only the rca's plugged in? it never goes off even with ground and power unhooked? sorry to sound like a parrot.

To really figure it out you need a DMM or a test light to measure voltage at the remote connection.

I have no idea how you're getting 12V thru your rca's w/o a meter and a little troubleshooting.

If it was during the day its possible light was reflecting off the LED and that's what you saw. If not then who knows, I have never heard of anything quite like that before.

Yeah, me either. The amps power light isint on, but the protect light is very FAINTLY on when only the ground and RCA's are hooked up....

VERY wierd, ive been doing this for a good 5 years...and have seen nothing like this

If you turn off the amps and there is still a faint sign of light in the LED, it usually means that there is still power stored in the capacatance of the board. Its really not a big deal if that is the case.

Try turning off the power to the amp and wait until the evening to see if the light is still on. If it is still on over that amount of time, you seem to have an issue with something shutting off. Get your DMM out and test your remote wire to see that it isnt getting any voltage when the system is off.
