Amps For 2 JL W6

I'm thinking of getting 2 10" JL W6 and was looking at the Hifonics Brutus 1606D. But i'm not sure if the amp can power the 2 Subs.

Umm....that 2x rated RMS for those subs. It will do just fine.

Ya but i thought the JLW6 are rated 400W @ 4Ohms so x 2 would be 800W @ 4 Ohms. But the 1606D are rated at 550W @ 4Ohms?

Yea........it'll power them just fine. The Hifo puts out a little less than rated power, so they'll be a good match for ya.

You have good subs, Why low-ball it with that amp? Look on ebay or the classiffied. In fact there's some 1 selling a jl 1000/1 here. There's also Alpine PDX amps and Rockford Fosgate. And for $279.99 you get what you pay for. Good Luck, hope it works out well for you.

There's nothing wrong with that amp at all.

The subs are rated at 400w. Period. Doesn't matter if you have each on wire in series or parallel it doesn't change the thermal power rating. For that amp wire the coils of each sub in parallel for a 2 ohm load and then wire the subs in parallel for a 1 ohm load on the amp. From there watch the gains and you'll be good to go.

Ditto. Those subs on that Brutus will wang. Hard. That amp is perfect for them.
